Karaoke Industry Alliance of America Officially Launches [ Oct. 24, 2008 ]
After nearly a year of preparation, the Karaoke Industry Alliance of America (KIAA) has officially launched! With representatives located throughout the US and representing all parts of the karaoke industry, the KIAA members are joining together to build a trade association to benefit anyone with an economic interest in karaoke. Participation is also open to karaoke enthusiasts though an associate membership.
There are many critical issues which the karaoke industry faces today such as:
- Piracy of karaoke music
- The inability of karaoke labels to legally gain access to new and many classic song titles
- Unfair competition among KJ hosts
Membership in the KIAA is open to any individual or business that has an economic interest in the success of karaoke in the United States.
KIAA Holds Organizational Meeting in Baltimore [ Aug. 26-27, 2008 ]
In late August, 2008, representatives from 11 different karaoke businesses throughout the US came together in Baltimore, Maryland. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the formation of a new karaoke trade association to be known as the Karaoke Industry Alliance of America (KIAA).
The group was representative of the entire industry. KJs, venues, distributors, media, and karaoke labels were in attendance.
Presentations were made on various aspects of karaoke piracy and licensing, and those in attendance discussed the mechanics as well as the timetable necessary to launch and build this new organization.
A presentation was also made by an anti-piracy investigative agency, outlining a strategy that could be implimented to combat the piracy that exists throughout the karaoke industry.
The result of the work started in Baltimore by this group will the the formation of the KIAA, a karaoke trade association that will be addressing many of the challenges that face members of this industry.
