Karaoke Anti-Piracy

This section of the website has been designed to educate, enlighten and discuss some of the solutions that the KIAA has been considering and diligently working toward accomplishing over the last several months.

It is difficult to imagine that in this era of file sharing and peer to peer networks (along with the accompanying publicity given to lawsuits such as the Napster and Grokster cases), that there may still be questions in the minds of some consumers as to the exact definition of piracy.

In light of this, the KIAA is initiating an educational campaign which outlines the definitions of piracy, and in addition helps its members and non-members alike distinguish piracy from other forms of intellectual property violations such as bootlegging and copyright infringement.

Prior to implementing any enforcement program, the KIAA has set goals to both educate and enlighten the karaoke community as to not only the definition of piracy, but also to the consequences of being convicted of these violations which can often times be quite grave.

The KIAA had identified five distinct elements or areas that need to be addressed successfully in order to be triumphant in our efforts against piracy.  We have called them the Five E’s of our anti-piracy campaign, and they are as follows:

• Educate
• Enlighten
• Enlist
• Encounter
• Enforce
